OVERVIEW

Secret World Legends is a free to play Action RPG where players take on the role as agents of powerful factions battling against various evils, myths and supernatural enemies. With three available factions and multiple classes, players create their own character and explore a huge modern day world under threat in this story focused, quest-based title. The game is feature packed with a re-vamped combat system, weapon customization, PVE content, exploration and PVP. A relaunched/updated version of the previous The Secret World MMORPG, Legends offers updates animations, graphics, combat and various other features.

LORE

The modern world is under threat from the supernatural, every creature, myth and monster from the ages that were thought fiction are constantly battle in a secret war by shadowy organizations around the world. As a newly recruited soldier for one such organization you now stand on the edge of the abyss, the last line of defence to protect the world and keep it ignorant to the truth that their entire world is constantly in peril.

GAMEPLAY

The game focus on a very story oriented gameplay with players creating their character and carrying out various missions as they explore the huge modern world using real world inspired locations. The game can be played as a completely solo experience with the main story-arc and choosing to group with friends is an option but not a necessity. With a range of customization options, from classes, skills and gear players can make a unique soldier in their battle against evil.

THREE FACTIONS

The three factions existing in the world are the Templars, Illuminati and Dragon, each having dominance over specific regions in the world and their own personal mandate. The Illuminati have ancient roots but have inserted themselves into modern society and now control various powers, corporations and organizations particularly in the Americas. Based in London the Templars control Old Europe, and this once religious organization now seeks to root out and destroy evil in all its forms with zero tolerance. The most secretive of the societies based in Seoul, Korea, the Dragon are hard to pin down due to their constant collapse and reformation, following the ways of chaos that guide their actions.

STARTER CLASS

There are nine available starter classes: Ravager, Assassin, Mercenary, Punisher, Warlock, Gunslinger, Magus, Demolisher and Trickster. Each class has its own unique playstyle that will appeal to different players, as well as a particular role it might fill in a group. With their own unique abilities and mechanics, as well as primary and secondary weapons, each class feels completely different to play.

NEW COMBAT

The combat revamp is one of the biggest changed to Secret World Legends and has seen a number of changes. Tab-targeting is a thing of the past and the game uses a reticule based “action combat” system where players fire off their attacks in the direction they are pointing their cursor reticule. To bring more actions players can dodge and roll around the battlefield, used particularly to try and dodge telegraphed attacks which show an area of attack on the ground from an enemy before they are triggered.

All the weapons have been reworked and each has its own identity and unique mechanics, such as the blade building up chi with every swing and reforges your spirit blade to deal more damage. Elemental magic allows players to control fire and ice, with a heat gauge that increases each time fire and lightning attacks are cast (which also changes the look of the spells as they grow more powerful). If the gauge maxes out then players can no longer cast spells and so must balance them out by cooling down the gauge with ice spells.
