OVERVIEW

SAO’s Legend is a free to play MMORPG based on the famous anime Sword Art Online. This traditional browser RPG sees players controlling their own hero character, advancing a story-arc that sees them as the main protagonist, acquiring gear to become more powerful, and fighting through various PVP and PVE features. The game is completely free to play and has a premium currency/ VIP feature for players to use.

LORE

In the near future game developers have created a virtual reality MMORPG where players can equip a helmet that attaches to their nerves and seemingly transports them to a new world, a fantasy realm of monsters and fairies. Unbeknownst to the thousands of players that logged in is that they are unable to log back out of the game and it requires them to beat the game in order to logout, with this futuristic tech attached to their nerves if these players’ character die in the game… they will die in real life.

GAMEPLAY

The game is a classic Asian RPG where players will control a single character and work towards levelling them up, earning and equipping various items and companions to improve their battle power, and unlocking access to new features as they advance through the game. The game is very traditional and has such common features as AFK/Auto combat where the game plays itself, controlling the players’ character and leading them through areas automatically fighting enemies, looting them, equipping new gear and handing in quests, allowing players little involvement if they wish. Similarly the game also offers a VIP system whereby purchasing Diamonds premium currency with real cash players also improve their VIP level, the more premium currency purchased the higher their VIP level, and unlocking the subsequent benefits and boosts that come with each level.

CHARACTERS

Players can choose from 4 character classes, each having their own skills, but otherwise there is no customization or difference between characters of the same class with aesthetics and skills staying the same across different players. The core goal is to level up through PVE and PVP focused content, earning XP or items that will make the character more powerful.

GEAR

There are various ways to acquire new items, as rewards, loot drops, or shop purchases, including specialised Gear Instances which can allow players to also acquire materials that will help them boost their gear.

Each character comes with 12 slots to equip items to them; Helmet, Boots, Gloves, Weapon, Earrings, Bracelet, Pendent, Belt, Leggings, Ring, Shoulder Pads and Necklace; when new items are equipped they will increase the character stats and make them more powerful. Various features and materials can be used to further improve these items, including the Polish system to boost HP, DEF and ATK, the Fortify system to increase base stats, and the Gemstone system which unlocks each items built in boosts.

There are a variety of other items that can also improve a character such as Mounts that can be upgraded that add stats, Wings that boost a character as well as adding a new visual to them, companion characters such as Girl Friends that are discover in Encounters, Divine Weapons, Stylish Outfits and more.

EVENTS

There are a wide variety of events that can be played in the game, unlocked at different levels, these range from login bonuses to reward players who consistently play the game, guild events for working alongside other players, the standard PVE campaign mode questing through the open world, various instances to fight Bosses either solo or in team fights, and more. Players are able to fight each other for ranks and reward in the Arena, pitting their characters against each other and trying to earn points and climb a rank ladder; the higher your rank the greater the earned rewards.
