OVERVIEW

In Krosmaster Arena players can collect figurines and battle with them in epic arena fights using their figures abilities and their own strategy and tactics to defeat their opponents. Also released as a physical board game that can be purchased in various stores around the world this free to play browser-based MMO is the first expansion that is cooperatively used by Ankama Games’ other MMO titles Wakfu and Dofus.

GAMEPLAY

The main premise of the game is for two players to go in a head to head battle, using their chosen team of figurines and fight it out on a random 12 x 12 gridded map. The teams start at each end of the map and take it in turns to make their plays, each player using all their figurines to move, attack or interact with the map in various ways before it switches to the other player who gets to use all their figurines.

Each figurine has its own unique attacks and abilities that it can perform in battle, whether long range attacks, melee attacks, area attacks and even the ability to heal their own figurines part of the fun of the game is collecting the new characters and mixing up your strategy in game. The game is won by removing the opponent players Gallons of Glory (GG), each time a figurine is KOd in the battle then you remove an equal amount of GG from the players’ pool equivalent to that figurines level.

CROSS-EXPANSION

In many ways the way players can acquire new Figurines, is completely unique to the game, available also as a physical board game that players are able to buy and collect the figures by acquiring these new character collectables, they also gain access to them within Krosmaster Arena Online. Similarly players are able to access the game when playing two of the developers other MMORPG titles Dofus and Wakfu, MMORPGs set in the same world where players can take some down time from their battles to play the arena game as a mini game within those MMORPGs. As with the physical board game any figurines earned in Dofus and Wakfu are also made available in Krosmaster Arena Online.

As well as earning figurines through playing other games or purchasing the physical versions, players can also earn online Kroz currency that can be spent in the game digital store, where players can purchase new digital figurines.

THE FIGURINES

There is a huge selection of figurines for players to try and collect and use to create different strategies and tactics within battle, available from various seasons of Dofus as well as some other exclusive figures to Krosmaster Arena. Each figure comes with its own trading card that list its health, move points, action points and known abilities as well is artwork of the figure.

KAMAS

One of the interesting features that occurs in battle is that whilst fighting enemy players are also able to move around the map and as part of their turn pick up “kamas”, coins that are scattered around the map that players can opt to pick up as part of their action. If the player visits a Demons Head square, typically placed at the centre of the map, they are able to spend their kamas to acquire more Gallons of Glory to make them harder to kill or simply replenish their lost GG, as well as buying a variety of different buffs and bonuses that can last for a turn, an attack or an entire game.
