OVERVIEW

Blizzards’ The Arcade is a client available in StarCraft 2 where players have access to hundreds customised player maps, modes (and even some implemented free to play Blizzard arcade games such as Starjeweled, Auir Chef and Left-2-Die) and the in-depth, functional modelling tools for the game are now fully accessible to everyone as a free to use platform with the StarCraft 2 Starter Edition and not simply those who already own the StarCraft 2 full game. All of the games in The Arcade and the custom games section of StarCraft 2 are completely free to play.

MODDERS AND DEVELOPERS

Those who love to mod games, develop new modes and create their own games will now have full access to all the tools that Blizzard Entertainment actually use in the creation of their own games. Players can create games that slightly edit the main game and slightly modify it, or create completely unique games that do not even resemble StarCraft 2.

FREE BLIZZARD ARCADE GAMES

Players can access some of Blizzard’s own Arcade games, including:

Starjeweled - a puzzle solving game that puts you against other players where you must match up jewels to generate resources and then spend them to make your attacks with various StarCraft 2 units in the hopes of destroying your enemies base.

Left 2 Die - working as a partner Co-op players must defend their base from the continual zerg infestation and protect themselves against these swarming hordes during night time attacks and then spend the day time rebuild defences and strike back whilst they rest.

Aiur Chef - players must gather up and combined various exotic ingredients in a StarCraft 2 themed cooking race against their opponent. Players must choose their recipes carefully in the hopes of achieving a culinary victory!

PLAYER CONTRIBUTIONS

With access to an already established player race those authors that create their own game modes, maps and mounts will have instant access to testers that can play their creations, a community built up of players already using the platform often. With community driven spotlights those developers who wish to make a name for themselves have the access ability and opportunity to do so.
