Chronicle: RuneScape Legends Gets Ready for the Open Beta
Jagex's upcoming free to play strategy card game Chronicle: RuneScape Legends will enter open beta on PC on Wednesday, March 23. RuneScape's spin-off is almost ready for its next phase after a successful closed beta test in which more than 700,000 games were played.
The open beta will introduce several additions, including two new playable legends, a new game mode, deeper progression and customization. Players will be able to use different skins for their legends.
“If the thoroughly successful closed beta formed Chronicle’s prologue, the arrival of its open beta phase on March 23 marks the beginning of chapter one. We’re introducing a host of new additions, including new Legends, the new Dungeoneering mode, skilling, customization and fresh environments to quest through,” said Mark Killey, Senior Producer, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends. “Our community has been vocal in praising Chronicle’s evolutionary gameplay mechanics – it’s the only CCG that offers a huge sense of adventure as each game plays out. By playing four cards at once, the rules are very different, which means so are the strategies, deck management and the play-by play-game experience.”
The new game mode available in the open beta will be' dungeoneering', a mode that tasks players with creating a drafted deck and battling in PvP challenges. it will come along with leaderboards.
The open beta will also feature new environments and a core feature in the RuneScape experience: Skilling. Every action performed in Chronicle will grant experience points in one of the game’s skills, leading to interesting customization unlocks.
